Facilitators should strongly believe and promote that our future growth relies on innovation skills and productivity. The 21st century instructional tools have made their way into almost all the spheres of education. However, ICT in the classroom requires students and educators to be taught how and when to use technology as a tool appropriately and safely. One such effective tool is the smart white board where information is presented in exciting and engaging manner creatively with motivating outcomes.

Students are exposed to various educational websites, audio, visual clips resulting in comprehensive learning. A variety of activities are provided to cater to different kinds of interactive learners.

But one thing a majority of Americans do agree on, according to a recent poll , is the importance of information technology to the future of learning and 21st century skills.

The recent poll on Americans' attitudes towards technology in the classroom was sponsored by Cisco. It strengthens education because it scaffolds the learner in multiple learning dimensions - visual, auditory or tactile, for example," he adds. The poll, conducted by Zogby International, revealed some interesting results, such as: The majority of Americans said that networking technology makes schools more connected to communities and levels the playing field among more and less affluent schools by providing equal access to educational content.

Fifty-nine percent agreed that "information technology is a vital tool that can help educate students, and more should be done to incorporate information technology into the learning process. Teachers are finding innovative ways to use information technology tools to help engage their students. The skills are structured into strands and their associated aspects. Labelling of specific aspects within the levels allows educators to identify and monitor student progress within and across each of the aspects. Teaching, measuring, and monitoring specific aspects, rather than an entire skill, is a more manageable and sustainable approach.

Instead of trying to teach students how to collaborate, the focus instead is on teaching students how to resolve differences aspect 3. Over time, gradually embedding the aspects will eventually lead to good representation of whole skills.

In understanding the aspects that contribute to a skill, students can build a metacognitive understanding of their own development. They can understand what it means to be a good critical thinker, creative thinker or collaborator and reflect on their own ability to apply the skills in any given learning area. To ensure an evidence-based approach, these levels have been, and will continue to be, validated and corroborated with assessment data.

To address the third need, ensuring alignment between curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy , resources have been developed so skills can be embedded within expected learning outcomes, assessments measures, and teaching strategies.

Curriculum, assessment and pedagogy should be strongly linked. An aligned approach would ideally integrate both skills development and knowledge of learning areas into learning outcomes. Curriculum sets out what those learning outcomes are, and provides a framework for identifying where and what skills are presented in different learning areas.

Assessment of skills provides an understanding of where students are at in their development, how they progress over time, and whether they achieve those specific learning outcomes. Pedagogical strategies provide the means for skills to be taught within existing learning areas to develop those learning outcomes.
